Late February in Texas is really early Spring, and the weather was divine. Lyndsay chose peppy bright colors with classy grey undertones to go with her Yellow Farmhouse Wedding at Houston’s only wedding winery venue. Every Bride has a wedding story, but this one can hit you in all the feels. Did you know that yellow represents happiness, clarity, and sunshine? A perfect representation to lifting one’s spirits. Read on to see why we think her favorite color is just what her father needed. In her own words, here is her story from the Bride about her wedding day at Emery’s Buffalo Creek.
“February 23,2019, was a very special day for my husband and I. The weather was perfect. My dress was perfect. Unfortunately, life before this day was not perfect. In June 2017, my dad was diagnosed with Glioblastoma. After many treatments and surgeries, he was cancer free. Still unsure about his health, my family decided to look for a wedding venue that helped with the preparations for the wedding. My husband and I also wanted the flexibility of getting married at my hometown church. An All-inclusive package is what we were essentially looking for.”
“We decided to check out Emery’s Buffalo Creek wedding venue. It was the best decision we made! They made the planning a breeze. From food to flowers to decor they helped plan it all out. Two months before my wedding we got the news that my dad’s cancer had returned. He had to have brain surgery 2 weeks before my wedding. I was devastated but also felt good that my wedding was taken care of. My dad thankfully recovered enough to attend my wedding.”
“The morning of my wedding, I got ready with my closest family and friends. I felt like a princess when I put my dress on. When my bouquet arrived, I was blown away. I chose to have yellow roses with white accent flowers. Yellow has been my favorite color my whole life. Patti dubbed my design aesthetic to be a Yellow Farmhouse Style Wedding. Seeing yellow wildflowers in the spring always made me happy so I knew I had to have yellow flowers at my wedding.”
“When it was time for ceremony to begin, a rush of emotion came over me. I could see my husband at the alter crying. My dad was crying. It was surreal. My dad was actually getting to walk me down the aisle after everything he had been through. It was a goal that he made with the doctors at MD Anderson. My husband knew how much it meant to me to have that moment. Seeing me in the dress for the first time made him emotional. The ceremony was in the church I grew up in and had many milestones.”
“Driving to our reception, I was a little nervous. We had only talked about the venue space and I would be seeing for the first time with my guests. When the DJ announced our name for the first time and we came through the beautiful entrance doors, I immediately looked around the venue. Yellow roses and white hydrangeas with lace tablecloths covered the tables. A fire was lit in the fireplace with a s’mores bar to the side. A curtain of lights twinkled behind the main table. It exceeded my expectations. The reception space was absolutely beautiful. Not to mention the pond and the beautiful sunset as a backdrop.”
“The evening was run on a perfect schedule. The night ended with a sparkler sendoff and my husband and I driving away in a vintage red truck from the side patio under the lights. My guests had nothing but wonderful things to say about our reception. From the decor to the beautiful scenery they had many compliments to give. To this day, friends, and family talk about what an exceptional day it was. In October 2019, my dad lost his battle with cancer. I am so blessed to have the wonderful memories and photos to look back on from this perfect day.”
From Emery’s Buffalo Creek, we are saddened to hear that Lyndsay lost her father. He was a wonderful man that came to every planning meeting we had. She had everything she could ever want for her special day because her father made sure of it. During the meetings he chimed in when needed. He seemed energetic, communicative, and warm. Seeing his daughters favorite color and everything so beautiful, her father was able to relax on her wedding day. What a perfect gift to him. What is not to love about this Yellow Farmhouse Style Wedding, and all the precious tender and memorable emotions that came with it.
